SIMULACRE puts a dancer's body face to face with a virtual space. It starts from Jean Baudrillard's idea of the simulacrum and asks how our digital images of the world feed back into the world itself.
Television, the internet and social networks start by copying the real world. Over time the real world starts copying them back, and social norms, ideas of love and everyday behaviour bend toward the images.
A camera captures Mathilde Boagno's improvised choreography and sends it to the 3D engine as it happens, with no suit and no markers on her body. Her movements deform the images directly, and she reacts in turn to the 3D world around her.
